museums don%26#39;t allow tripods without special license or permission --

Tripods are annoying in crowded areas,, they get in the way and take up room. Don%26#39;t bring one inside anywhere.
It is easy to go on website for Louvre , D%26#39;Orsay, Rodin, Cluny, then you can confirm most will forbid tripods.

ohh okok. thanks guys.
|||
And also keep in mind that museums and churches generally do not allow flash, partly because it is disturbing to other visitors but mainly because the flashes are very bright and can damage art works.
|||
yup. totally aware %26amp; will truly respect the rule.
ohh by d way. we dont plan to use d tripod inside d museum....

The Louvre does have a cloak room, you could check it.. or leave it at the hotel on days you plan on visiting museums.

Nick, the latter is a furphy (non-Oz TAers, there%26#39;s one for you to google). Flashes on digital cameras do no damage at all to artworks - not even works on paper. The old-type flashes certainly did.
But it is annoying for other visitors.
Trust me - I%26#39;m responsible for (among other things) Visitor Services in an art musuem - which doesn%26#39;t allow photography at all; but I%26#39;m working on that. :-)

Technically you cannot use a tripod anywhere even outdoors in Paris on property to which the public has access unless you have a police permit. I%26#39;m not sure to what extent this is enforced but obviously if every photog in Paris used a tripod it would make movement pretty difficult for everybody else...
|||
Dang, Kiwi! A furphy, huh? The things one learns on TA...
~scratching head amusedly~

What about a monopod? It takes up WAY less space than a tripod and is quick and easy to collapse...
Something like this amazon.com/Sima-SMP-1C-Monopod/dp/B000165GJI
