I just spent a month staying at www.vrbo.com/153055 in the 17th arrondissement literally across the street from the Porte Maillot metro station on Line #1. It is a one person, maybe two person, apartment with lovely furniture, a large and nicely tiled bathroom with a bathtub/shower and a fully equipped kitchen with an oven, microwave, burners, refrigerator and a washing machine and drying rack.
The apartment was immaculately clean when I moved in and the bed is very comfortable. Although the apartment is only up one flight of stairs, there is a small elevator which works well. There is wifi, as well as DSL, and you can call long distance, as well as locally, to any landline phone.
The landlord is exceedingly nice and accommodating. There is a french-speaking Guardien on the premises who is as kind and helpful as is imaginable.
I found this apartment on line after looking at hundreds of apartments. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this apartment and would highly recommend it.

I am curious how much you paid for it. It sounds wonderful!

What a nice home away from home!

bump. People regularly ask about nice apartments so I want as many people as possible to see this.

Does the bathtub have a wall mounted shower?
|||
Sounds good, but the listing really does need a lot more pictures....
And a floor plan is always a great idea....
|||
Yes it does Suzanne--with good water pressure.

I agree that more pictures are necessary. The owner has more pictures. If you write to the owner, he will email more pictures to you. He has pictures of the kitchen, bathroom, etc.

Nice to hear that you liked the appartment. It is worth mentioning, IMO, that the location is not central. It is actually at the border of Paris and Neuilly. This could be a problem for short stays...

I know that lots of people think you need a %26quot;centrally-located%26quot; apartment. This apartment is literally next to the Porte Maillot metro station on the Line #1--the main Metro line. No matter where a person stays, they will be fanning out from their apartment/hotel. Either they won%26#39;t go back to their room until later in the day or they will have to walk/take public transportation to get back there. I don%26#39;t think it matters a hoot. I could get back to my apartment very quickly from almost anywhere in Paris. It also gives you a feel for a %26quot;nontourist%26quot; neighborhood too.
In addition, it is quite near to the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysees which then leads to most of the other major Paris sites.
I think people make a bigger deal out of %26quot;convenient location%26quot; than it really is. %26quot;Safe location%26quot; is important to me and this area is safe.
In addition, some people can%26#39;t afford to pay the higher prices of staying in the main tourist areas and they would like a nice place. This apartment meets those needs too.
There are also people returning to Paris who would prefer to stay outside of the 4eme - 7eme arrondissements. They want a new experience and a more %26quot;local-feeling%26quot; experience. This apartment would work well for them too.
Please know that I don%26#39;t get anything out of promoting this apartment. In fact, although the owner/landlord was helpful and thoughtful, I never even met him. I am only doing this because people so often complain about the bad and, although I do that too, I like to promote what is good. The studio is exactly what I was looking for when I waded through 100%26#39;s of apartments on line.
