My daughter has just turned 18- her boyfriends turns 18 whilst in Paris... so as an extra little pressie we%26#39;ve arrranged for them to travel (sadly by coach)to Paris...
they only have 2 full days there, 1st day is at Disneyland ( hope they wont be disapointed having been to florida at least 4 times!) and on the second day they want to go to Paris.
Neither speak fluent french- the BF can speak a little school french....
The hotel they are staying at is the Kyriad Hotel Torcy.. ok its not the Ritz but it will be fine for acouple of nights I am sure.
My question is once thay catch the train into Paris -is it obvious when they are n central Paris which I assume they will need to visit Louve, Effiel tower, Monmartre, Notre dame, ChampsElyse, Arc de triomphe... IN that list of priority. (Daughter is arty)
Any ideas on timing- distances between the sites- which are closest so as not to double track... Any help you can give would be appreciated please.
Words of wisdon would also be appreciated from one who had her purse stolen on the underground many years ago !!
Also I cannot remember but is it in France- the flat 2 pin electric convertor she will need or the 2 pin round one...many thanks for taking your time to read this and hopefully help.

I wouldn%26#39;t worry too much about the French, as long as you make the effort to try and are polite in my experience the French are very helpful and generally speak English.
Obviously, Champs Elysée and the Arc should be done together and one sits at the top of the other! The Louvre and Notre Dame could be done together as they are fairly nearby to one another. Montmartre is the furthest out of the city centre and takes around 20-30 mins on the Metro usually. The Tower is also a little way from the centre, but no great distance on the Metro or RER (a quick way to go from Notre Dame is to go from St. Michel Notre Dame down the yellow line (C) to Champ du Mars Tour Eiffel on the RER).
It is probably logical to do the Arc, followed by a walk down the Champs Elysée on the same day as Louvre and ND, although your daughter may wish to spend a longer time in the museum than anywhere else? Personally I would go to the Cathedral and the museum first thing, rather than the other way round. Do they want to climb the tower to see the gargoyles at ND? Well worth it, but queue early!
The same could be said for the Tower, too, although i love doing this at dusk and seeing the lights comes up in the city (queue times are longer then, tho%26#39;, it took s about an hour to get on the lift from first queuing in May).
As for security, just have a zipped up handbag and be sensible, Paris is pretty safe. Ignore anyone who asks if you %26#39;speak English?%26#39;, the same for anyone offering you a gold ring and avoid the %26#39;bracelet men%26#39; at the bottom of the funicular railway in Montmatre and generally be aware of the crowds and things at night time in Montmartre (I love it up there but %26#39;Amelie%26#39; it is not!!!)
And finally; a French plug has two round pins:

Hope they have a great trip :-)

Probably shouldn%26#39;t say this, but do they really want to go to Disney if they have been to the US one 4x when Paris is at their fingertips? It is a lot to see all you listed in one day if she really wants to spend some time at the Louvre. The lines can be long to get in and it depends on what day they will be there. The first Sunday of the month is free so it is jammed. I think it is open late Thursay PM and closed on Tuesday. They should get there early. The metro is easy to use. They can buy a couple of tickets for 1.6e each or a carnet of 10 for 11.4e if they will be using the metro a lot in one day.
Tell them they will LOVE it.

Guys thank you so much for that information.. it will give them something to contemplate this evening!.. they are there over the easter weekend...so crowds I assume..
thanks again- appreciate your advise.
|||
this is a very busy site.....

Louvere is closed on tuesdays. Open late on Wed. and Fri.
Tell them to enter by the underground metro stop, and buy ticket from machine , not to enter from courtyard Pyramide entrance, that is the worst.
The Disney in Paris is not as good as Disney in States, they will in fact be wasting a day.

thank you for your reply i will pass your advise on.

It%26#39;s not particularly difficult to make your way into Paris, but tourist attractions are rather spread out in the city, so it would be a good idea to purchase a map, along with a guide book, so you can choose the items that most interest you and set an itinerary that makes sense given the various locations.
For information on your accommodation, you can read several reviews here on the forum. Type Kyriad Torcy into the search box in the upper left corner of this page then click on the Reviews of Kyriad box.
