Several posters have indicated I should look for for my vacation apartment %26quot;behind%26quot; Sacre Cour to truly get the %26quot;neighborhood%26quot; feel of Montmartre which I am looking for. Can someone tell me what words I should look for to indicate this area when I am reading descriptions of the apartments? Which metro stop would be the best for this area as most apartments list the closest metro?

the stop you are looking for is Lamarck Caulaincourt -- that street and those nearby are excellent
we have stayed on Rue Marcadet and on Rue Caulaincourt and both were excellent -- Caulaincourt perhaps a little nicer -- both in the pleasant part of the hill --
if you look at perfectlyparis and feelslikehomeinparis web sites for apartments, you will also get maps and their apartments are mostly in very nice areas

Do you have a detailed map of Paris? or a Metro map (Google and bookmark http://www.ratp.info/orienter/cv/carteparis.php)
Have a look on that metro map at the area above and a bit to the left of the P of Paris... the area from around the metro stations La Fourche, Guy Moquet to the west, North of the Abbesses station, all the way east to the stations Simplon and Jules Jauffrin. Lamarck-Caulaincourt station is in the middle of that area.
Don%26#39;t forget to locate the whole area on google Earth, then change to Google maps and move the little yellow guy along streets by apartments you are interested about to actually see photos of the streets.
Obviously other posters will have a different opinion... but this is a start.
