We are planning to arrive on a Sunday evening to MSM and spend the night. We want to stay on the island. I have checked the website and the hours are listed as 9am-7pm. However, there was a statement that mentioned that some nights the abbey was open until 1 am with last entrance at midnight. I am assuming that does not include Sunday night, but I am not sure. We would hate to drive all that way and not have much time in the evening to tour the abbey. Will we be limited on a Sunday evening?

We just returned from France this weekend, and spent the night on MSM. I never saw any sign that mentioned late openings, it was only the openings that the webiste lists. However, I recall that before our trip I actually e-mailed the website for MSM and received a reply. You could try that.
If I had to guess, however, I%26#39;d think that visiting the Abbey late at night will be difficult in that the island is dark, very dark - at night. Neat place.

Night visits are in July August.
It%26#39;s a different sort of visit to the day time. The rooms are lit with coloured lights, there%26#39;s music, even live musicians and art exhibits.
When they are available you need to visit in the day to get the history then again at night.
