Best way to get to Alsace region from Paris.

Best way to get to Alsace region from Paris. We are spending 4 days in the Alsace region and not sure if we should go TGV. Once in the region is it best to hire a car we are travelling in December.

I recommend your using the TGV either to or from Alsace and driving during the remaining period of your vacation. Tickets can be very inexpensive:

We just returned from a week in Alsace; took the TGV to Strasbourg and rented a car. The TGV trip takes 2 hrs 20 minutes. If you%26#39;re going in December you should look now to get good PREM fares although it may be too late for the best deals.

Not directly on the trasport question, but Alsace is a wonderful place to visit. A friend ofmine grw up in South of France (Grasse) and Paris and travels often but just this year did her first trip to Alsace and loved it. You can also just hop across the Rhine and do a day in Germany, such as Baden-Baden or even Heidelberg. Both are do able by car of course, or train from Strasbourg.

Take the TGV and rent a car at the station in Strasbourg.
