You may have to go to a bank in Paris to change it in to smaller notes. Many places refuse to accept €500 and €200 notes (and some places even €100).

You could also try in a bureau de change. I know you are not changing money, but in the nicer bureau, they are quite helpful.

ohh any bank will do?

:( since i got no choice also.

TQ guys.

%26gt; ohh any bank will do? %26lt;

Yes, although none of them have to change it. Smile a bit, say %26#39;bonjour%26#39; sincerely, and I%26#39;m sure someone will help.

Oh I will! Hand that baby over!

I don%26#39;t think that you are going to find a whole lot of establishments that will accept a 500€ banknote for a 10€ purchase. The practical consideration will be that the transaction would most probably clear the cash drawer of smaller bills for change for later transactions. On the other hand, a Michelin 3-starred restaurant will probably accept it (along with a few more) as payment for a nice dinner-for-two) and establishments like Louis Vuitton or Hèrmés would probably accept it....

As noted above, your best bet would probably be to stop at the retail BANQUE de FRANCE branch, at 39 rue Croix des Petit Champs (at: rue Coquilliere), in the 1er arrondissement and they should be able to %26#39;change%26#39; it into more managable denominations for you without difficulty. The branch location is located between Musée du Louvre and Palais Royal...so easy enough to swing by when you%26#39;re out %26#39;n about, without much inconvenience.

Even easier, you can go into any post office, as most have a Banque Postale counter where you can ask them to change it into smaller bills.

Where I ive,, most places will not accept a 100 dollar bill,, and some will not even accept a 50 note. Banks of course can and do.

I personally never take large bills for any reason,, of course,, I only bring about 100 -200 euros in cash anyways.

I used to convert about $300.00 to euros at the American Express office. One of the benefits was that I could specify a certain number of 20, 10, and 5 euro bills so tha I didn%26#39;t run into a problem with only large denominations.

I use an ATM now and it never seems to be a problem.

Most banks won%26#39;t change it unless you have an account there.

Best to take nothing larger than 50%26#39;s.
