Beaune Wine Tours

Any suggestions for the best company for Wine Tasting tours in Beaune? Safari Tours or VineoTours or Wine %26amp; Voyages?

Thanks

Wine %26amp; Voyages, definitely. Run by American woman, Caroline, married to Frenchman. Serious info but relaxed atmosphere.

If this post is still alive and kicking, look no further than Taste Burgundy (http://tasteburgundy.com).

I have just returned from a short stay in Beaune and booked a one day tour of Cote de Beaune and Cote de Nuits. My guide, Cristina Otel, collected me from my hotel and drove me round the area on a tour which included a crash course on wine-making in Burgundy, two wine-tastings at very different wineries, lunch in Puligny-Montrachet, field visits to the Montrachet and Romane Conti vineyards, and a stop at Clos de Vougeot. Cristina has worked in numerous postions in the wine industry and speaks excellent English. She is very knowledgaeable and passionate about her subject and is great company.

I%26#39;ll throw in my two cents. My friend and I were there in August 2007 and we rented bikes at a place right near the train station. They gave us a map and we biked through the vineyards stopping at whatever winery struck us. I would recommend this - we had a great time and it was beautiful scenery!

Question for Luv2travel .. did you find you needed appointments to visit the wineries on your bike route, or were you able to just stop in without a reservation?

Also, I speak enough French to get by (although I%26#39;m less confident with the tasting-specific vocabulary) but my husband doesn%26#39;t understand a word. Did you find there was usually someone on-site that spoke English?

As a rule, we hate guided tours, but I%26#39;m wondering if we%26#39;ve made a mistake not booking one - although it may be too late either way, since we leave in a few weeks!

That’s a very good question that has a very easy answer. You can’t do better than Taste Burgundy (www.tasteburgundy.com). At a very reasonable price, you get great wine tastings, conversations with some of the best producers, pleasant strolls through the vineyards, just the right amount of technical information communicated clearly and pleasantly, and the satisfaction of knowing that your guide, Cristina Otel, really wants you to understand Burgundies and enjoy yourself at the same time. Cristina and Taste Burgundy are to wine tours what Chambertin, Corton and Romanee-Conti are to wines.
