I know parisbestlodge takes no deposit apart from a cheque which isn%26#39;t actually cashed and is returned at the end of the stay. Does anyone know of other agencies/owners who don%26#39;t require deposits? I especially dislike to have holiday funds tied up in a security deposit, which in some cases is not returned until some time after the trip.

In my experience some agencies will take your credit card number as a guarantee for a security deposit. I%26#39;ve done this twice with no problem so you should ask when you find an apartment you like.

Excellent - thank you all.

Do you mean security/cleaning deposit that is later refunded (hopefully)?
Nearly everyone requires a deposit to hold the booking and full payment a month or so before you get there (or a wad of cash when you arrive)
Paris Vacation Aparments (PVA) don%26#39;t take a cleaning deposit (just keep your credit card number) http://www.parisvacationapartments.com/
Vacation in Paris only takes a $150 cleaning deposit http://www.vacationinparis.com/

I don%26#39;t mind paying a deposit to hold the rental, but I have seen security deposits up to 1000 euro, and some to be returned within 30 days of departure.

Centreparis does NOT take deposits. You pay only the per night price and the cleaning fee - if you elect to take it. No more fees or deposits.

vacationinparis.com After you return the key, they send back the $150. deposit and very quickly. Happy Travels!
