Enough time for market before Versilles?

Hi,

As my flight arrives around 6.30am, I%26#39;m wondering if I%26#39;ll have time to pop by a market (eg. Bastilles?) for food supplies before visiting Versilles. Or should I allocate 1/2 a day for the market itself.

My main concern would be getting to Versilles and having time to complete the palace and the Trions etc.

Lastly is it cheaper to go by RER or SNCF? cos I understand you can%26#39;t use the Paris Visite pass to Versilles?

Advice will be grealty appreciated.

Depending on the day you visit, they also have market in Versailles, around Place du Marché. It is ten minutes from the palace . They also have supermarkets so you won%26#39;t starve. Otherwise you will have to carry all your stuff to Vservailles on the RER.

BUT i would strongly advise you don%26#39;t do Versailles on the day you arrive, otherwise you will be exhausted, as you fly from Asia i believe.

It would help if you mentionned the day you arrive, and where your hotel is located, as you have also a market in every district of Paris. You don%26#39;t have to go all the way to Bastille which is completely east, before going to Versailles which is completely the other direction, west. You will lose a lot of time.

thanks for responding raphy.

I%26#39;ll be arriving on a Tue and will be staying in the Gare du Nord area. I understand there is also a Marche St-Quentin nearby. Is it any good?

As I%26#39;ll only be in Paris for 3 days, I would really like to check out the markets at least once for a look-see. So which markets in Paris in your opinion is the best and what are the must buy stuff?

oh one more question, is it cheaper to travel by RER or SNCF to versilles?

Yes, the covered Marché St. Quentin on boulevard de Magenta is definitely worth visiting. It is open every day except Monday from 09:00 to 13:00 and in the evening from 16:00 to 19:00.

I agree with raphy. I think it would be a bad idea to go to Versailles immediately after arriving on a long flight. It takes most of a day for a complete visit and it is very tiring even when you are fresh.

it is cheaper as well as being easier and quicker from the GduN area to go to Versailles by RER, 5€80 RT IIRC...
