Paris to DLP via train

Hi

I have just booked our trip to DLP but the fares on Eurostar were so much cheaper going to Paris that DLP so please can someone tell me how to get from the Eurostar terminal in Paris Gare du Nord to DLP? Thanks any idea how much??

Thanks again!

From Gare du Nord, take the RER B direction: Massy Palaiseau.

At Chatelet, change to RER A direction: Marne la Vallee/Chessy. Stay on the RER until Marne la Vallee which is the end point as well as Disneyland.

Fare: 6.55 euros

En route time: approximately 50 minutes.

Children under 4 travel free and for kids 4 or older but under 10 the one way fare to Marne la Vallée-Chessy is €3.25.

I%26#39;m not an expert on the French metro, but I am looking at a metro map, and should it not be RER line B direction Robinson/ Saint Remy/ Les Chevreuse?

Massy Palaiseau is on RER line C which does not pass through Gare du Nord or Chatelet Les Halles.

Good catch, Figgygirl! Robinson and St. Rémy les Chevreuses are indeed the terminal stations on Line B.

%26lt;%26lt;Massy Palaiseau is on RER line C %26gt;%26gt;

I stand by my original answer as completely accurate.

While the above quoted statement is correct, Massy Palaiseau is indeed on the RER B line as well (check www.ratp.com). Additionally, not all of the RER B line trains reach St. Remy, some stop short showing only Massy Palaiseau as the end point. What matters is taking the next southbound RER B line from Gare du Nord to Chatelet for the RER A connection.

It would be foolish not to board the Massy Palaiseau train simply because St. Remy or Robinson is not the intended destination. Any south bound RER B train should pass Chatelet which will be clearly indicated on the route information board located at the quai.

Well yes, technically you and Figgygirl are BOTH right.

Thanks IrishRovr,

You and Sarastro seem so knowledgeable on this subject, I was a bit afraid to put my oar in, and wasn%26#39;t 100% sure about it.! Didn%26#39;t want ozuk09 looking for a train to Massy Palaiseau in vain and getting confused. I know that the trains and signs show their final destination.

Good tip from ozuk about Eurostar being cheaper to go into Paris. We have always used the direct Disney service, but didn%26#39;t realise we were paying a lot more.

Will look at that in future myself, and could even get to Disney more quickly if we catch an early train. I wonder how long it would take to get from Gare du Nord to MLVC altogether?

Please do not be hesitant to contribute. Everyone has valuable input.

I generally discourage first time visitors to Paris from taking the RER as it can be a bit daunting when one tries to find his way underground with luggage and young children in tow. However, as a practical necessity to connect from the Eurostar to Disney it may be unavoidable.

Visitors should keep in mind that in central Paris, the RER is not really a precisely defined A to B rail link as is the metro. There may be multiple trains from various start points converging and sharing a few common stations in central Paris and continuing outbound by breaking out to serve various rail line destinations and changing end points. One might describe the RER network as a linear %26quot;hub and spoke%26quot; system. Any number of RER B trains can server for those seeking only a link from Gare du Nord to Chatelet.

Ozuk09,

After you come back, could you let me know on this forum how long this took you, and if you found it easy enough to do again? I would be interested to know how long it took to get from London to Disney, so I can compare against the Direct train, and whether it is worth trying myself.

I think I would book the direct train home though, as I would be worried about missing the Eurostar in Paris if we blew it.

Thanks.

It would take about an hour to get from Gare du Nord to MlVC. It%26#39;s not a difficult trip. You take the RER B one stop from Gare du Nord to Châtelet/Les Halles and change there to the RER A to MlVC. The one way adult fare from GduN (or anywhere else in Paris) is 6€55. The RER trains are frequent and reliable so you really could take the train back from GduN. You just need to be sure to allow enough time to get to GduN in time to check in for the ES to London.

The total time from St. Pancras to MlVC would be between 3.5 and 4 hours depending on how efficient you were getting from the train to the RER station and so on. Allowing for the time difference, if you left StP around 07:30 you could perhaps make it to MlVC by shortly after noon. I think that%26#39;s not a whole lot earlier than the non-stop train, but if you can save a bit of money as well....
