Anzac Day 2010

I am plannng on being in France for the dawn service next April. Would like to %26#39;see%26#39; Paris and then possibly hire a car for about 3 weeks and drive up to Ameins then tour around the area. Alternately, travel from Paris by train.

All advise and info. on best way to get to the dawn service and where to visit afterwards will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Google is your friend (anzac day france 2010):

anzacdayreservation.com/villers-bretonneux-f…

It%26#39;s officially a tour site, but gives the important info about the celebration.

For other sites around the area, have you looked at a guidebook? There%26#39;s enough to do between Paris and the battlefields to keep you busy for years...narrow it down a bit and we can help you fine-tune things

Great advice Sunshine - google is your friend

Actually Allinga, there is an Amiens forum on Tripadvisor that might be quite helpful. There are a lot of posts by Australians about areas that Australian soldiers fought and were killed in

Sunshine, you are American I think but living near Disneyland? Lucky thing!

Oops Allinga sorry it would have been helpful if I had given the link to the Amiens forum

I would ask your questions there as I doubt many Parisians or other nationalities living in the area around Paris could tell you more than you could google - the Amiens forum has always been very helpful

If you are going to be needing a car for 21 days you might look into a short-term lease rather than hiring. You%26#39;ll likely save a bit and you get to drive a brand new car with a less restrictive contract than most hire companies provide.

There%26#39;s a lot to see and do (and think about...) in the area. Amiens itself has a splendid cathedral and there are of course many more WW1 sites and memorials in Flanders and Picardy. With three weeks you could take in a good bit of Normandy as well, including the D-day landing beaches if you were so inclined.
