Bars and Restuarants near Gare du Nord

Hi, I will be in Paris on Wed Nov 18 for the France v Ireland World Cup game, we arrive into Gare du Nord around 1345 and are staying in a hotel which is approx 10 minutes walk from the station.

I am due to meet some friends who are arriiving into Gare du Nord later that afternoon and am looking for some suggestions for good bars which are in the area.

We are trying to avoid paying a lot of euro for a beer so any advice offered would be much appreciated.
