Hi,
We are conidering diving from Roscoff to Nice next summer wth two young children. Has anyone done this? Could you reccomend stops?
We were thinking of stoping off in Sancerre or Lyon.
Thanks

That%26#39;s about the longest drive you can do within France - you%26#39;re looking at an 18 hour drive (allowing for 2 hours of rest breaks for every 7 hours on the road) and that%26#39;s assuming there%26#39;s no traffic hold-ups (and if you%26#39;re travelling on a weekend in July and August, there will be plenty of traffic). That%26#39;s two consecutive days of 9 hours on the road. With 2 young children on board, that is likely to be a nightmare.
Either you need to break the journey into much smaller chunks, so that you take maybe a week to get there; or you should consider flying and hiring a car; or you should consider holidaying nearer to Roscoff - Brittany, Normandy and the Vendee have lovely beaches and plenty of other attractions to entertain the children, and none of them will require you to spend large portions of your holiday on the road.

I agree with PoolLounger. I wouldn%26#39;t want to make this trip WITHOUT kids in less than three days, probably four in summer. I likely wouldn%26#39;t attempt it at all with young children in summer. If I HAD to make the trip under those circumstances, I would want the better part of a week to do it i any kind of comfort.
BTW, Nice and the Côte d%26#39;Azur are jam-packed in the summer months. I have spent quite a bit of time in the south of France one way or another and the coast is somewhere I will do almost anything to avoid in July and August. And you REALLY don%26#39;t want to be there with a car in those months, most especially in Nice.

I totally agree with the previous comments. Too far to drive with small children, too hot and crowded when you get there.
If by %26#39;summer%26#39; you meant June, then a slower trip with several stops might work, as the weather down there might not be as hot, and the crowds would be smaller. However, this year in the south of France June was heating up. May would be good, following a slow trip.
Would you plan to actually stay in Nice, or in a nearby village? And how old will the children be?
