My first thought is bus line-38. It%26#39;s direct and should take less than 20 minutes with absolutely no stairs to climb in the journey. Métro line-4 is also an option but there is a lot of stair-climbing to do.

The bus line-38 stop is across the street from the front of Gare de l%26#39;Est and slightly west (to the right).

OOPS... Boulevard Saint_Marcel_ ... not Michel. Thanks Irish. I agree the search is the way to go. Métro line-5 is a pretty straight path.
