I think i%26#39;m gonna go this restaurant next saturday, i%26#39;monly in paris for one night, so i want to make sure i go to a nice restaurant, this one looks stunning i nthe photo%26#39;s, but after reading some of the reviews on tripadvisor i%26#39;m in two minds.
Some people say its really great and the decor is really nice and the food is nice, but some other say its a tourist trap (one likened it to mcdonalds haha) and the decor isn%26#39;t as good as it is in the photos and the food is bland and not real french cuisine.
I don%26#39;t know much about it, so just wondering if anyone can offer their opinions on this establishment.
Thank You.

The decor IS very nice, I cannot see how anyone could dispute that.
The food in my opinion is hit and miss. I did have a lovely cheese plate, but my duck dish was a disgrace. My dining companions enjoyed their main dishes very much, I believe they had some sort of sausage dish.

Hi Liam,
We have only eaten there once, but we were six at our table, two English, two Swiss and ourselves, two Americans who have lived in France for 10 years, and everyone had a wonderful time. Maybe it was the company, maybe it was our waiter who took such good care of us, or maybe it was just the wonderful surroundings, but whatever it was, it was memorable. The room is magnificent, our waiter was charming, and everyone at our table, all of whom know France and French restaurants very well, enjoyed their meal.
To get the full impact of this unique restaurant, I would arrive early enough to take a walk around the station enjoying the drama of all of the people who are coming and going, and then present yourself at the restaurant well before your reservation so that you can ask to have a drink in the lounge area before dinner. You will be shown to a worn leather chair in the %26quot;bar%26quot; area where you can settle in to enjoy a peaceful moment of %26quot;waiting for a train in style%26quot; before being shown to your table.
Bon Appétit

Sounds lovely.
Do you have to sit with other people then?
How much are drinks in the restaurant?
Like bottled beer or spirits, i don%26#39;t really drink wine (i%26#39;m uncouth haha)

I was there a few years ago and although the space is impressive, the food and service was not. In all fairness, I was with a group of 15 or so people and we ordered from a special menu.
|||
i%26#39; probably go for the set menu which is 49euros.
they have another set menu whcih is 62 euros as well.

I had lunch here in Sept. 2007. The room is beautiful and my lunch was tasty--not fantastic but the food was definitely enjoyable enough to have good memories of the experience.

I ate with a group there once and was not super impressed, although I have no specific complaints about the meal.
While the decor is fabulous, you would probably get better value for money elsewhere.

You don%26#39;t go there for the food. It is edible and, like slowpoke, I have had memorable evenings there, but that is thanks to the decor and the company. The food is neither here nor there. Which is disappointing, given the price of a meal.

I just returned from a month in Paris. I had some meals where the decor was nice, but nothing great, but the food was spectacular. I had some meals in restaurants where the food was average to good but the decor was so spectacular I felt like I was eating in one of the wonders of the world.
You have to decide what your priority is for your meal. I think a spectacular environment with decent food is worth the price of admission. If you want spectacular food, perhaps you might choose a different restaurant.

We really enjoyed our lunch there last summer. Our food was good and the service was excellent. It%26#39;s certainly not Michelin stars kinda good, but still we really enjoyed it. And the setting of course is exquisite.
We will happily go back there again.
