CDG to Gambetta: Taxi or RER/Metro?

We%26#39;re arriving at CDG about 11am on Tuesday and need to get to our hotel which is off the Gambetta stop. There%26#39;s 2 of us, each with a piece of luggage.

Is the RER/Metro doable? It looks as though we%26#39;d have 2 transfers, one at Gare du Nord and one at Pere Lachaise.

Or is a taxi the way to go? If so, about how much would it cost?

Thanks

%26lt;%26lt;2 transfers, one at Gare du Nord and one at Pere Lachaise.%26gt;%26gt;

I should recommend Gare du Nord, M5 to République, M3 Gambetta

Fare 8.50

about 55 minutes en route

Yes if this is your first time in Paris, about 50€.

RER/metro is very manageable with one piece of luggage -- and there is a sort of spirit of adventure in making one%26#39;s way

BUT if tired or not up to the challenge after a long flight, then a cab is certainly a reasonable choice

If you are contemplating taking public transport the whole way you might consider taking the #26 bus from rue de Dunkerque right outside Gare du Nord direct to Gambetta, about a 20 minute ride. It would be a lot easier than the métro and probably almost as quick. Except at rush hour I find the buses very easy with a suitcase provided it is not too big.

If your suitcase is big enough to make you think twice about taking the bus then I would suggest a taxi either from CDG or from GduN. The latter would be significantly less expensive.

and just a reminder -- your RER ticket from CDG will also cover the metro portion of your trip -- so your total cost will be 8.50 per person

Quite true, Grace, and it will also cover the bus if the OP elects to go that route.
