Navigo pass beyond zone limit

Hi,

If I buy a Navigo pass at the CDG airport for zones1-3, which I will need later, for zones beyond 3, I need to buy Billet Ile-de-France. But I have another doubt : At the ticket counter do I mention (say) zone 3-5, or any specific station name ? Also how to use this single ticket along with the Navigo to borad the train, or exit from the station ?

There may be some theoretical way whereby you could somehow combine a Zone 1-3 pass with a supplementary ticket to get to somewhere outside Zone 3. The only way you could do it would be to take whichever line you need out to the last station in Zone 3, leave the system, buy a ticket to your final detination and board the next available train using that ticket. I%26#39;m not sure that, in the long run, you would save much, if any, money and I certainly don%26#39;t think it would be worth the hassle. You cannot buy an %26quot;add-on%26quot; ticket in Paris to allow you to travel out to Zone 5 (or wherever).

You%26#39;d be better advised either to buy a pass covering all the Zones to which you intend to travel or buying individual tickets (or possibly even Mobilis one day passes) as you need them.

Transportation passes are only valid for travel within and between their designated Transportation Zones.Period. Travle beyond those Zones and if you are stopped by a RATP inspector you will be fined. It will not matter that your %26#39;..intention..%26#39; was to pay the extra fare for the %26#39;..overage..%26#39;...%26#39;cause you can%26#39;t. The %26#39;system%26#39; only works on fare payment in advance.

The only way to travel beyond the allowed Transportation Zones of your pass%26#39; validity is to get off of the train or bus before you cross over, out of the last Transportation Zone of validity of your pass and purchase a separate Ticket for the remainder of the journey and ride the remainder of the journey on that separateTicket.

It%26#39;s also worth noting that passes are sold for travel within and between specified Zones (1-2, 1-3, 1-5, 3-5, etc) So if your trip is between Zones 1-5 and you%26#39;ve a pass valid only for Zomes 1-3,,,you can%26#39;t simply assume that a three Zone pass will be valid for travel between Zone 5-3.

Thanks for you response. But I was trying to know that if I buy the tkt for zone 3-5 and then board the train, then can I show the Navigo+single tkt and reach the final destination, without getting off in the middle?

The two experienced posters just above your post have already answered your question - you would have to deboard at end of zone 3 to buy an onward ticket into zone 5.

The question is fundamentally answered.

May I just add that the reason why you must exit the metro and renter at the zone limit point is to time/date stamp the zone 3-5 ticket. Without the turnstile stamp, the Navigo+ single ticket will not be valid for passage.
