Our own tour

My husband and I love guided day trips, but we%26#39;re thinking of going it ourselves from Paris to Reims instead of on a tour bus. Do you think this sounds okay?

Leave Paris by train

Arrive Reims

Tour Cathedral

Check out Surrender Museum

Grab a bite

Tour Taittinger

Tour Ruinart

Maybe dinner %26amp; think about heading back to Paris

A couple questions: is this walkable? If not, can you recommend a Reims bus map in English? Also, would it be worth touring Moet in Epernay instead of these two champagne houses? Or would you recommend a smaller champagne house in Reims instead of these larger ones?

Many thanks!

Yes it is walkable but you%26#39;ll need to rearrange your schedule so you are not going back %26amp; forth.

Surrender museum is close to station

Then walk to cathedral which is about half the way to

Taittinger - well worth visiting

Ruinart is a long way out and probably worth getting a taxi --also note that you need to make an appointment there in advance

I don%26#39;t think you can do all this in one day. The tours of the champagne houses take 45-60 mins and go at set times. I reckon that if you visit Mumm instead of Ruinart you could do it (we did both %26amp; surrender museum walking in one day in July)

Mumm is very close to surrender museum, so museum, Mumm, lunch Tatittinger, Cathedral and dinner.

You need to coordinate English language tour times at the houses. You%26#39;ll see a film explaining winemaking process, tour cellars and finish with a tasting. If you know Champagne process and just want to see cellars you can do a tour in French

PS -- you can download a Reims streetmap showing various sites from the official visitor site at http://www.reims-tourism.com/
