New Years Eve in Lille

We are staying at the Crowne Plaza in Lille over New Year 2009 and have just found out that their restaurant is closed on New Years Eve.

Can anyone suggest somewhere lively to eat, possibly with entertainment but doesn%26#39;t cost the earth?

Ideally we%26#39;d like to make a reservation in advance

Hi

Did as you said BFG, but unhelpfully all posts over 6months are blocked from view. Would also like to know about restaurants, whether the christmas markets are still open and how people in Lille celebrate new year%26#39;s eve.

Thanks

Lille Christmas Market is open from November 18th to December 30th.

There are usually quite a few restaurants open in Lille city centre on New Years Eve.

One to look at is La Chicoree (Place Rihour - opp. Tourist Office) which is open 10am until dawn every day.

They do charge more after midnight and they have an English version website.

The countdown to Midnight is close by in Grand Place (you can%26#39;t miss the illuminated Big Wheel) and a big crowd gather to celebrate the New Year.

Then every car driver in Lille starts sounding their horns to try and deafen you.

The crowd soon disperse, the noise gradually diminishes and that%26#39;s when you deserve a small drink, or two, to keep out the cold night air.

The rest is up to you!

Hi All

Posts are closed after 6 months of inactivity , so if there was no response to a previous question - then it will just be closed. ALL other responses will be shown.

If you search for %26quot;new year%26quot; - then you will see what has been asked before and the responses to the question.

So, if you search - you will find an entry by 2crazy - september 14th 2008 - as an example.

cheers
