Salut,
As most of us Americans know that French magazines, music, dvds are hard to come by in the States. Where do you go to get these things? In particular, I wonder if any of you have purchased things from www.amazon.fr?
If you know any other sources, please let me know. Many thanks in advance.

Yes, I have. Amazon.com is a wonderful thing.

We buy music, DVDs and merchandise from Amazon.com (US), Amazon.co.uk (England), Amazon.de (Germany) and most often from Amazon.fr (France). The sites are apparently database linked so your credit card info in the cookie on your computer is retained and used during transactions.
When it comes to DVDs though, you need to pay attention to the %26quot;zone%26quot; the DVD is intended to be played. England, France, Germany are zone-2 and the DVDs won%26#39;t play on un-modified DVD players in the US (zone-1).

I have gotten just about everything I wanted from Amazon.

Yes - I%26#39;ve used Amazon.fr, Amazon.de and Amazon.com for DVD%26#39;s and books.
As mentioned, you need to be aware of the different regional encoding on DVD%26#39;s. I%26#39;ve had a multi region machine for many years so the regional encoding has never been a problem.

Hi all,
Thanks all for the replies. What about magazine subscription? Is there some sort of subscription services? It is kind of expensive to pay $11 US for an issue of Maison Francaise or any other magazines are just as expensive.
I do realize the DVD regional differences. Again many thanks. Now that airlines are charging for the second check-in bag, amazon would be a great way to get some of the French stuffs.

There are a fair number of French DVD%26#39;s that you can watch on demand on amazon, and it%26#39;s as cheap as $2.99. Just another option if you%26#39;re looking for French movies to watch.

Ypui can find a fair number of French magaizanes at both Borders and Barnes %26amp; Noble bookstores. Also, there are several magazines that are available on-line - while it%26#39;s not the same as having / handling hard copy it%26#39;s not a bad alternative, since you can choose what you want do download to keep for future referance.
Borders also has a pretty good selection of French music.

SDWanderlust-
In Seattle there is a bookseller in the Pike Place market that sells loads of foreign language magazines and newspapers. You might google to see if there is someplace like that in SD.

I wouldn%26#39;t go for magazine subscriptions. First because the European companies charge a lot and secondly because not every issue of a magazine is worthwhile. quite often a French decoration magazine will several interiors per issue from other countries than France, for example. Interesting interiors for sure but not French.
Of course we are lucky in Vancouver as we get a very good selection of foreign magazines, including the biggest selection of French ones in town, from one great magazine store on Broadway, just west of Granville (No it is not Chapters!)
