I am generally understand from the posts, that trains stop Peillon and the village itself is a bit of a distance.
The question is: how scenic is the way from train station to the village and how difficult it is?
Are there any bases to the village?
Another question is: village is normally pictured from another hill. How to find the nice one to see the village?
I will use foot and public transport only.

No train goes anywhere near Peillon. Are you thinking of Eze? If so, a bus from Nice bus station will take you there in about 20 minutes. Train goes to Eze sur Mer from where it is a steep walk on a rough track for 30 minutes to an hour to the village.

Peillon is on the train des merveilles route and the village is aroudn 4km from the station with a 150m increase in height -so allow for a steep climb and a minimum of an hour to an hour and a half walk.
It wouldn%26#39;t be my first choice of places to go in the area as a foot passager and vantage points for photos would be best reached by car.
If you haven%26#39;t done this already - I%26#39;d suggest an easier alternative for the sorts of views you seem to be looking forby taking the bus 82 to Col d%26#39;Eze and walking down the hill towards Eze to get some fabulous views of Eze village from above
Also cross the viaduct and get some views of Eze village from the road level

There is some information on Provence Beyond that details the route from the station. http://www.beyond.fr/villages/peillon.htm It will be a distance and up hill. There are instructions on how to go either by road or hiking trail. I have walked to Peillon from La Turbie but not from the train. I have also driven to Peillon. The final road approaching the village is very narrow. There is also limited parking once you get to the village. You may park a bit further down the road.
There are very limited services at the village. The Auberge is a great place to eat or stay but other than the Auberge - I%26#39;ve never come cross anything else open. I think there is one other small cafe and maybe a souvenir shop. We got there one afternoon around 2pm and it was totally deserted. Keep this in mind if you do walk - definitely take food and drink just in case.
But if you can get there by car - it is magical. The best and classic view is behind the village. It is on the trail from Peillon to La Turbie. You can find the trail by going up the stairs to the left at the front of village. This will take you out of the village to terraced olives. Turn around and you can see the classic vista here. There is also a great view of the village from the main car road just a few feet down from the village.

Thanks Selkie,
I have been to Peillon something like 20 times and had no idea that there was a train anywhere near. I will try it some time.

Thanks for pointing us to that site, trav4flowers. Very useful. The link you posted is incomplete however. Here is the full link:

Thanks for fixing my link, IrishRover. I%26#39;ve used Beyond Provence for ages for good information on the region - especially for hiking.

I well remember the drive up to Peillon: 13 switchbacks!
