Travelling from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport

I am taking my husband to Paris in March 2010 and haven%26#39;t got a clue on how to get around. I am looking at booking the Hotel Jardins d’Eiffle and need to know how to get from the airport to there in the quickest and cheapest way. I understand that there is Invalides underground railway about 3 minutes away from the hotel but am clueless on what this means.

Can anyone tell me how to get from the airport to our destination in the easiest and faster manner? Can anyone also tell me how long it takes and how much it would cost.

Thank you so much

Easiest, fastest, and cheapest are not available in a single choice. If they were, there would only be one choice.

Overall, from baggage claim to the west side of Paris, taxi is the easiest and possibly the fastest in total travel time - no need to purchase tickets, find the train station, or wait for the next train and no getting lost underground. At 40-50 euros it may not be the cheapest.

The cheapest will be probably be a RER/metro combination at 8.50 euros each. There are pitfalls for those trying this option for the first time. Though basically very straight forward it can be confusing unless you are roughly familiar with the system.

I use both options depending upon my requirements at the time. Based upon the way in which your question is posed, I recommend you strongly consider the former alternative.

Once we took the Air France shuttle bus from CDG to the neighborhood (around Arc de Triomphe) where we were staying. On the plus side it was easy, cheap, efficient. On the negative we did have to wheel our suitcases along to our hotel over uneven surfaces. That%26#39;s because they travel between their bus stops, not door to door like a taxi would.

I also found a lot of other options while I was trying to find this link for you on google that you might want to check out.

The previous poster is really giving you good advice against trying to navigate the RER/Metro system if you are completely unfamiliar with it. For one small example, would you know that you needed to keep your RER ticket after using it to get to your train and that you would also need it to leave as well?

I suggest the Air France shuttle (if close enough to your hotel) just because you will have a human (the driver) to consult if needed. But do %26#39;tackle%26#39; the metro once you arrive. It%26#39;s really a great way to get around the city.

Bon Voyage!

BTW, this website is just informational. You don%26#39;t have to buy your tickets in advance.

Here is the Metro/RER map www.ratp.info/orienter/cv/carteparis.php

you definitely MUST get familiar with that map.

The metro /RER station near to your hotel is INVALIDES . This is the name of a famous hospital for soldiers/ church/ Napoleon tomb . From CDG you take first RER B then change at St Michel- Notre Dame station to RER C, going to either St Quentin or Pointoise and get off at Invalides.

BUT in your case I would take a taxi. Just be sure to have the name and address of your hotel PRINTED on paper. You could take the Air France bus to Invalides, then a cab, but for 2 people a cab is only bit more expensive. and don%26#39;t be shocked if the driver charge extra for extra suitcases. This is the official rule not a rip-off.
