Paris in Late November - Should I?

I found a great travel deal for Paris for 5 days in late November. Would like to be able to walk around the sites as much as I can. Will the weather be too much? Or should I just suck it up? It is Paris, after all.

We went to Paris many times over Thanksgiving week due to work restrictions. Yes, it is cool and can be rainy but I don%26#39;t think it is any worse than Washington. I love this time of year because the city is so quiet and there are no crowds to speak of. We once saw a bit of snow in November. I think you will love Paris in November.

It will be chilly -- frosty mornings -- and possibly damp...but probably not all that different than DC that time of year.

Bring a warm coat...scarf..gloves...hat..walking shoes....and go enjoy your visit.

There%26#39;s always someplace to stop for a hot chocolate or vin chaud.

Our first trip was in late November (Thanksgiving) It was chilly, but not horribly cold. Take a small umbrella, wear layers , remember hat, gloves and a scarf, and of course good walking shoes and you%26#39;re set. I tend to get somewhat cold, so I took a set of silk long underwear. Only ended up wearing them one or two days.

Enjoy. Paris is wonderful no matter what time of year you go.

The weather last mid November was gray and in the 50%26#39;s. so there was no problem being outside. The great part is that all the Christmas decorations are up on the the Champs Elysees and at the department stores. We rode the big ferris wheel at Place de la Concorde at midnight when the Eiffel Tower was twinkling and we could see all the lights on the Champs Elysees. It was wonderful!!!

As Sabrina said, %26quot;Paris is always a good idea%26quot;. Go for it. The weather should be pretty close to what you%26#39;ll have in the District, and you survive that just fine.

Get a good guide book and a map. I like the StreetWise map of Paris, and the Knopf City Guide map booklet. They won%26#39;t break the bank and will be a big help in deciding which sites that are important to you should be grouped together. The StreetWise map is laminated and takes a dry marker for highlighting routes and destinations and is pre-folded so it%26#39;s easy to carry. Purchase Paris par Arrondissement once you arrive in the city. It%26#39;s a great map book and is also a terrific souvenir.

Absolutely! The crowds are gone. It%26#39;s a great time to be in Paris!

|||

Absolutely!

Dress for damp, chilly weather but do pack sunglasses too because there are often bright, sunny days too!

And yes, lots of places to stop for hot chocolate and a piping hot tarte tatin! (I recommend Ma Bourgogne on the Place des Vosges for both - sit outside on the terrasse under the heaters and enjoy the view.)

To all who posted replies to my query ... thank you for your inspiring responses! I booked my flight yesterday. If I must bring extra luggage to carry a coat, boots and other warm gear, so be it. I%26#39;ll be in Paris, for heaven%26#39;s sake!

%26quot;FOrget%26quot; the winter gear at home and stock up here!

Phread took my idea! :) By all means...buy anything you need in Paris! Think of the pleasure you%26#39;ll get every time you tell your friends, %26#39;Oh this old thing? I got it in Paris%26quot;.
