Travelling from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport

I am taking my husband to Paris in March 2010 and haven%26#39;t got a clue on how to get around. I am looking at booking the Hotel Jardins d’Eiffle and need to know how to get from the airport to there in the quickest and cheapest way. I understand that there is Invalides underground railway about 3 minutes away from the hotel but am clueless on what this means.

Can anyone tell me how to get from the airport to our destination in the easiest and faster manner? Can anyone also tell me how long it takes and how much it would cost.

Thank you so much

I usually take a taxi, but there are few options on public transport

Roissybus from CDG to Opera station, then metro number 8 for 3 stops.

The bus journey is about 1 hour, and 15 minutes on the metro. The cost about 12 euros.

Alternatively RER train for Chatelet and change for metro via Concorde or Madeleine.

Not much difference in time or cost on either routes, RER train is OK except in the rush hour.

We recently used the parisshuttle transfer service!!!!!!!! We had to phone three times to get an update on when they where coming. Eventually arrived an hour late. The driver then had to go for fuel which took another twenty minutes as he decided to have a chat with his mate at the garage. Then he got lost and couldnt find our hotel. Cost for two people 36euros. On our return we decided to go by taxi, cost 38euros. Would not recommend parisshuttle at all.

Which airport??? There are three in Paris...

If you really do not understand the Paris public transport system, clearly the easiest way to get to your hotel would be a taxi. But once you get there how are you going to travel around the city? You cannot walk everywhere and taking taxis wherever you want to go would get expensive pretty quickly.

You need to go to your local bookstore and check out the various Paris guidebooks sitting on their shelves. Buy the one that appeals to you and that has a decent description of the bus and métro (underground) system. Along with that get a good street map at least of the center of Paris so you begin to have some idea where things are located.

Meanwhile you can use the search function above the posts here to find threads detailing the how and why of métro and RER (suburban light rail) travel and passes/tickets and all the rest. And you can go to the official Paris transport web site at ratp.fr and click on the little Union flag. If you play around there you will start to get the hang of the system, how it works, and how to use it. You will also find there detailed information about the various ways to get to and from either Orly or CDG. Beauvais is a special case and is beyond the limits of the public transport system.

With reference to kedvoidal%26#39;s post, if you read through the threads regarding shuttle services in Paris you will find that none of them is 100% reliable.

My apologies. I realized after I clicked %26quot;Submit%26quot; that the airport is named in the topic heading. So ignore anything about Orly or Beauvais...

I think the taxi will be more than that - 50-60 euros depending on traffic
