Trips to Loire Valley - overnight?

We%26#39;ll be in Paris during the middle of May. Any suggestions for trips to the countryside would be appreciated. I saw a 2 night trip from Paris to Loire Valley...Also considering taking train to Loire Valley and staying at a Chateaux. I%26#39;m wondering which is a better way to do this trip. Has anyone done either?

Any suggestions for trips outside of Paris would be appreciated as well.

Thanks....

You can catch the TGV from Montparnasse direct to Tours station in 55 minutes afterward you can either can trains to chateaux or better still as they are spread far and wide, hire a car....have a look at www.myweekin.net for places to eat and stay and travel planning ideas... The Loire will have something for everyone and you won%26#39;t be exhausted by the journey otherwise you could look at Champagne from Paris, and visit the ancient city of Reims.

I have done both. I went with Cityrama on a one day trip to Loire Valley where we saw 3 chateaux and returned that evening at around 7pm. I enjoyed it.

I just returned from 5 days in the Loire Valley where we had a car. We stayed in a wonderful B%26amp;B near Saumur for 2 nights and in a pretty hotel located on farmlands near Amboise for 3 nights. That was great too. I must admit that I didn%26#39;t have to figure out %26quot;the car thing%26quot; because I took the train from Gare Montparnasse in Paris to Samur train station and my friend who lives in Lyon, France picked me up there in her car.
