Can someone tell me the cost to take RER and then Metro from CDG to Hotel de Ville? Also, will you need to purchase two separate tickets -- one for RER and one for Metro, or will one purchase do? Merci!

8.50€
You might connect at Chatelet to the RER A for the one stop to Hotel de Ville. As long as you do not leave the RER/metro system or exit you can continue to just about any destination with one ticket.
Unless the weather is bad, you could just as easily walk from Chatelet to the Hotel de Ville.

The respondent mis-spoke. You want NOTHING to do with the RER %26#39;A%26#39; ligne. To get to HOTEL DE VILLE from the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne, you would have to make the long underground correspondance/transfer from the CHÂTELET-LES HALLES RER station to the CHÂTELET Métro station, for the regular #1 MÉTRO ligne (heading in the direction od Vincennes) the one stop to HOTEL DE VILE Métro.
Given the underground walking distance from the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne arrival platform at the CHÂTELET-LES HALLES RER portion of the station complex to the CHÂTELET Métro portion of the station complex for the #1 Métro ligne...ya%26#39; might just as well come up to street level at CHÂTELET-LES HALLES RER (at: rue Berger %26amp; rue Pierre Lescot), and just walk the distance directly to your final destination.

Every now and again the right answer is a taxi — if not from CDG then from Gare du Nord...

No, it%26#39;s not a warning worth reading which is why, I guess, TA removed it from this forum earlier today.

So is the train dangerous, then? Is there a direct line from CDG to Gare du Nord without making any stops? I just don%26#39;t want to shell out 50 Euros or more ($75 now) for a taxi ride from the airport if at all possible not to.

I think the incident was true, but the original posting contained offensive cultural profiling and that%26#39;s why it was removed.

The story is, on its face, improbable at best.
As to whether there are trains from CDG that do not stop between the airport and GduN, the answer is yes. See my more detailed response on your new thread on this topic.

There IS an RER that goes directly from CDG to Gare du Nord without stops along the way. The express line is a bit more expensive, and is not the one that is the subject of the referenced warning post. Here is a link to info about the RER:

The fare on the express trains is exactly the same as on the trains that stop at every station.
