Not to put too fine a point on it...you really should look up each location on any good Paris street map (you%26#39;re already got one, right??...it isn%26#39;t as if you won%26#39;t need one once you arrive in Paris) and plot route(s) for yourself.
Given your starting point, the simplest and most direct route would probably be to take the #63 bus (heading in the direction of Gare de Lyon) from its stop on Blvd. Saint Germain %26amp; rue Thénard) to the end-of-the-ligne at GARE DE LYON.
#63--PORTE DE LA MUETTE/GARE DE LYON Bus Route (DANTE stop)--

OR.....#10 Métro ligne (heading in the direction of Gare d%26#39;Autserlitz) from MAUBERT-MUTUALITÉ to the end-of-the-ligne at GARE D%26#39;AUSTERLITZ, then come up to street-level and walk the short distance (700 meters??) across the Seine to Gare de Lyon.

it looks very grand, i wonder if it is good i nthere?
I bet it is, i more went for this restaurant because of the decor, i%26#39;m only going paris for one night, so thought this would be a nice and memorable place to go.
|||
I%26#39;ve got a guide bookv to help me out while i%26#39;m there.
The thing with getting the bus is that i wouldn%26#39;t know where to get off, the train look quite simple though, i think its only two stops away.
|||
yep, in a new city I always prefer the underground, it%26#39;s so easy to work out, and easy to correct if you go wrong.
|||
The buses have scrolling message boards that let you know what the next stop is. They are very easy to use and second only to walking to allow you to see what you came to see rather than a long black hole in the ground.
Speaking of which it would be a pleasant walk, less than a half hour if you don%26#39;t dawdle, from your hotel to the Gare de Lyon. You might want to walk one way and take the bus or métro the other...
|||
yeah, i wouldn%26#39;t mind walking, but again, directions may be a problem, though i do have a map.
Plus who knows if it will be raining on saturday night and i don%26#39;t think the missus will appreciate walking about dressed up.
how much would a taxi be, it seems quite near.
Can you hail taxis in the street in paris (i assume you can, but you never know)
|||
Come to think of it, in this case the bus couldn%26#39;t be easier. On your way there the last stop on the line is Gare de Lyon so you can%26#39;t possibly go wrong. On your way back you will surely know your own %26quot;home%26quot; and be able to get off at the right stop. This is one occasion when the bus is actually easier. There is no convenient way to get from your hotel to GdeL by métro. At best you will have a 10-15 minute walk (with all kinds of options for getting lost...); at worst you will have a really unnecessarily complex journey involving a change at Châtelet, usually something to be avoided.
|||
You%26#39;d have to work at it to get lost if you walked the whole way. It%26#39;s actually easier to get lost between Gare d%26#39;Austerlitz and GdeL than it would be if you walked the wholeway. The river is the way you keep yourself oriented in central Paris and you will hardly be more than a couple of hundred yards from the river at any point. If you take the meetro everywhere you aren%26#39;t going to see much...
Go to mappy.com and you can get detailed street by street directions using the pedestrian option — though I%26#39;d just use a map. If you can find your way around London you certainly can find your way around Paris, unless you have absolutely zero sense of direction.
In Paris you do not hail taxis the way you do in London. you go to a taxi stand. The closest one to you is probably in Place Maubert but your hotel will be able to tell you for sure — or order one if you want that kind of service. The fare should be €10 or less but if you have the hotel book the cab it will already be showing a couple of €uros on the meter when you get in.
