We found a very nice B%26amp;B with great ratings. Only thing is they want 100% payment up front. This makes me a little uncomfortable--paying this much money (6 days worth) far in advance. Is this common practice for B%26amp;Bs in Provence?

We stayed at 4 B%26amp;B%26#39;s in different areas of France and they all took our credit card info ----- but no deposit whatsoever. I too would feel a little uncomfortable with that.
The only place we paid upfront was our Paris hotel to take advantage of a huge savings.

The idea of paying for your entire stay in advance is troubling. We%26#39;ve been asked for a deposit for one night, but never more. I%26#39;d be inclined to stay somewhere else.

I wouldn%26#39;t continue with this reservation under any circumstances. There is no shortage of good B%26amp;Bs in Provence, and this practice has nothing to do with its location.

Have to agree with the above posters that the 100% payment up front that this B%26amp;B is demanding is totally unacceptable.
You may want to consider renting / leasing a property for a week, as it will probably be consiberably less expensive especially if you are travelling %26quot;off-season,%26quot;
Please note that rentals/ leases are generally only availble by the week, starting on Saturday - although exceptions to this rule, may be made, by some owners, if you are REALLY %26quot;off season.%26quot;
Above all else, make sure to base yourselves ina a really well-centered site, so you can easily explore ALL of Western Provence

Over the last 10 years we%26#39;ve stayed in more than 40 hotels throughout France (all outside Paris), and another nine or so in Paris (and in a number of apartments in Paris, and a few countryside gites). Only two times have we been asked for a hotel %26quot;deposit%26quot; -- and even then, for only one day of our stay. We *never* have been asked (for hotels, apartments, or gites) for total payment in advance. And so, like the other posters, I%26#39;d be quite suspicious . . . .

As a B%26amp;B owner i can honestly say I have never heard of anyone asking for this. Some of us take credit cards as a guarantee, some ask for 20% deposit. This year has been difficult for some small B%26amp;B%26#39;s and maybe this is the result.
Certainly as someone who lives here and runs a very sucessfull B%26amp;B I would look elsewhere

That is unusual to find a B%26amp;B asking for full payment upfront, either the accommodation is not as decribed,or they are short of bookings %26amp; money.
We take credit card details to secure the booking but make no charge on the card until departure,making sure the guest is completely satisfied, all I can say is BEWARE!

Thank you all VERY much for your replies. I think we%26#39;ll look elsewhere.
